Flux

Love Spirals Downwards’ groundbreaking 1998 album, Flux, seamlessly combines drum n bass, trip pop, and dub electronica stylings with their classic ethereal dream pop sound. Over the past 25 years the album has stood the test of time, remaining the band’s most popular release on Spotify and Apple Music. Opening track “City Moon” holds the top spot with all nine original tracks gracing the band’s Top 20 on both streaming platforms. The song “Psyche” — one of two tracks co-written and sung by Suzanne’s sister, Kristen Perry, landed a music placement on the nationally syndicated show ‘Dawson’s Creek’ in 2001. Flux features a second track with Kristen (“Ring”), as well as a guest performance by guitarist Rodney Rodriguez on “Alicia,” and a remix of the 1994 Jennifer Ryan Fuller collab “Sunset Bell.”

A great, contemporary record. ‘Flux’ sounds like a more genuine version of what Mono was aiming for: a pop-electronic fusion with a gentle jungle undertow. It’s one of the best things I’ve heard in months, and you’d be wse to get your hands on a copy quick.Scott Becker, Option Magazine

  1. Great album. I will be playing it for the rest of my life. There’s simply nothing like it. It should have been the beginning of a new genre in music, but I’m still waiting for imitations. Also, I’m still waiting for a re-issue on vinyl.
