Projekt just released a limited edition Maxi CD in their popular Excelsis series entitled ‘Holiday Single 2.’ Here’s what it posted on the Projekt website:
Limited edition of 1000! The companion to Holiday Single 1 presents more splendid music to get you in the winter mood! It features the recording debut of melodyguild, the new band from former Love Spirals Downwards vocalist Suzanne Perry (doing a cover of “Sally’s Song” from The Nightmare Before Christmas), another beautifully chilling original from Projekt’s own Unto Ashes, and an original song from Middle Pillar Presents recording artist The Mirror Reveals. Packaged in an environmentally friendly 5″ cardboard wallet. Cover Photo by Vaclav Jirasek (website).
Suzanne’s band, Melodyguild, posted an update on their official website today:
Regarding the E.P. that you’ve all been waiting for….believe it or not, we are still hard at work in the studio. We are hoping we can post some music soon, but we haven’t decided yet what to post or when. We promise we will make a decision soon as we know you are all waiting!
Suzanne’s new band, Melodyguild, premiered their first recorded song during a live in-studio interview with long time friend of the band, DJ Wednesday, on her seminal Gothic/Industrial radio program, Generation Death. The show airs on the college radio station KSPC 88.7 FM in Claremont, CA.
Suzanne’s band Melodyguild will perform at Club Violaine again on March 28th, this time with The Arrogants. The club is doing a giveaway of their third Violaine compilation CD to the first 100 patrons.

Melodyguild formed with members of various local bands. Matt, who was the drummer for LA indie/dreampop band The Von Trapps began collaborating with their ex-bass/guitarist John, and Love Spirals Downwards singer Suzanne in 2002. Nicholas, who is also the lead in local band The Battle of Lake Erie, soon joined on drums. John left the band in 2003 and was replaced by Von Trapps guitarist, Rod, on bass. Cris, with a soon to be released album on Clairecords under the name Silver Screen, soon joined on guitar to complete the lineup.
Combining stylings from these bands, among other personal influences, Melodyguild comfortably fit into the LA dreampop/shoegaze/indie scene.
Today is Suzanne’s birthday! Happy Birthday Suzy!!!
The article on us in the November issue of Keyboard is out and I’m excited about us and Massive Attack sharing the same page. If you don’t have their latest, Mezzanine, get it! It’s my favorite release of the year.
Lots has been going on with the release of Flux, which continues its great run on sales and radio. If you still haven’t bought Flux yet (you’ve all got it by now right?), you should be able to find it at most stores including Tower, Virgin, and Borders. Plus, Flux is featured in Borders listening stations now until November 16.
There’s still no shows to announce as of yet. The good news is that Suzanne and I have now started rehearsing and working on music again, after a several month break that both of us needed after finishing Flux.
